Prosmax is a dietary supplement with a specific composition for assisting prostate function. Prosmax contains natural substances that have been shown to protect prostate tissue from the undesirable effects of free radicals.
Serenoa repens is a plant known for its capacity to lower the level of bound testosterone, DHT or dihydrotestosterone, by inhibiting 5a-reductase, an enzyme that transforms free testosterone into bound testosterone. Some studies show that DHT causes hypertrophy of the prostate.
Cucurbita pepo or marrow extract is rich in lignans, a specific group of phyto-oestrogens, which has an inhibiting effect both on 5α-reductase and on the aromatase enzyme. This carries out an irreversible transformation of testosterone into oestrogen, so that the level of free testosterone rises.
Camellia sinensis contains mainly catechins as a secondary constituent. Catechins appear to have anticarcinogenic properties.
Lycopene, a carotenoid of the tomato, is found in high concentrations in a healthy prostate where it has a powerful antioxidant effect.
Zinc (zinc methionine) and selenium (L-selenomethionine) are bound to an amino acid, which helps them to be assimilated.
The prostate contains more zinc than any other part of the body. Zinc prevents androgens (testosterone and hydrotestosterone) from binding to androgen receptors in the prostate.
Vitamin B6 favourably influences prostate function.
Vitamin E has a clear antioxidant effect on the prostate.
Reduced glutathione is the main antioxidant of the liver and seems to be absent in all tumorous stages.
