Which are the 4 groups concerned and what are their functions?

  1. Many vitamins (vit A,C,E,B9) and minerals (Sulphur, Seleno-methionine, Calcium-D-glucarate) have a significant antioxidant function (combating free radicals) and are also the precursors of certain enzymes in the detoxification process.

    Detoxification occurs in 2 stages

    • Stage 1 : transformation of lipsoluble toxins into hydrosoluble substances via cytochrome P450 (Spirulina, via its chlorophyll, forms cytochrome P450).

      As these hydrosoluble substances are very reactive and toxic to the cells, a second stage must deactivate them.

    • Stage 2 : there are 5 pathways for this; Permufor acts on the following 3:

      • Glucuronidation : this is an important detoxification mechanism against carcinogens. This mechanism is activated by Calcium-D-glucarate.
      • Conjugationwhich brings into play Glutathione, is another detoxification pathway. It binds the glutathione to the liposoluble (and therefore hydrophobic) toxins.
      • Sulphatationbrings Sulphur (MSM) into play for the detoxification of certain substances such as heavy metals (mercury, lead, etc.)

  2. The function of the digestive tract cells is to supply all the cells of the body with energy. Obviously, good digestion is essential. The breakdown of foods starts with mastication in the mouth and continues by means of enzymes in the stomach and duodenum. These act as catalysts: they activate chemical transformations (play an essential role in most of the regulating mechanisms and help the metabolism to adapt to changes in situation).

    The complex of enzymes contained in Permufor are:

    • Bromelain (a natural anticoagulant which prevents platelet coagulation).
    • Papain and trypsin break down proteins.
    • Lipase plays a part in fat digestion.
    • Catalase plays a part in destroying toxic substances.
    • SOD (Superoxide Dismutase) is an enzyme that plays a part in combating free radicals.

  3. The degree of acidity also plays a key role. That is the purpose of our intestinal bacteria. They produce vitamins themselves such as vitamin K and some B vitamins. They feed on fibre (curcuma root) which, in turn, affects intestinal peristaltism (bowel movement which pushes the alimentary bolus along).

  4. The cells of a healthy intestine produce mucous and bicarbonate, thus reducing the damage caused by toxins. Glutamine is an important source of energy for the large intestine. Gamma oryzanol, a substance contained in rice bran, has a positive effect on the intestinal mucous membrane. Goldenseal boosts immunity and, along with Curcuma longa, has a stimulating and regenerating function for the mucous membrane.

Dosage

According to medical advice.

However, a gradual increase is recommended in so far as, because of its regenerating and detoxifying properties, the product should be introduced gradually.

For example:

  • during the first 4 days, ½ level teaspoon with the 3 meals followed by
  • during the next 4 days, one level teaspoon with each meal
  • during the next 4 days, 1½ level teaspoons again with each meal
  • and finally 2 level teaspoons 3 x/day with each meal.
