Beta 1.3 glucan is a polysaccharide, a nutrient which has antioxidant properties and boosts the immune system by activating the macrophages (white blood cells), which, in turn, attack viruses, bacteria, fungal infections and substances alien to the body.
Beta glucans are found in cereals such as oats, in mushrooms and in yeast. Above all, it is the beta glucan that is present in baker's yeast which has properties that strengthen the immune system.
