Chrysanthellum americanum contains the important constituents flavonoids and saponoids, of which chrysanthellin is the most well known. Not only are flavonoids hepatoprotectors, they also facilitate microcirculation. Saponosides are venotropic and tensioactive substances.
Chrysanthellum is a medium choleretic with a long-term effect, a liver detoxifier and a hepatoprotector used in the consecutive treatment of jaundice.
Reduced glutathione is the main hepatic antioxidant and seems to be chronically insufficient in all tumorous stages.
